Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Home Health ICD 10 Coder to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical records for home health services using ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision) codes, ensuring compliance with CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) guidelines. Your expertise will support precise billing, revenue cycle management, and medical record abstraction, contributing to the overall efficiency of our healthcare operations.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10 codes for diagnoses and procedures in home health settings
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Record) and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems to accurately document coding activities
- Ensure coding compliance with CMS regulations and guidelines for Medicare and Medicaid billing
- Perform medical record abstraction to extract relevant clinical information for billing and reporting purposes
- Collaborate with billing and coding teams to resolve discrepancies related to medical coding or documentation
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and other coding standards
- Support revenue cycle management by ensuring accurate coding that facilitates timely reimbursement
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical coding, specifically ICD-10 coding within a home health or outpatient setting
- Strong knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG classifications, and medical terminology
- Familiarity with medical billing, collection processes, and revenue cycle management principles
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management for billing and coding purposes
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure precise documentation and coding accuracy
- Ability to interpret medical records accurately and abstract relevant clinical data
- Prior experience in medical office environments or healthcare settings is preferred
