Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
Elev8 Center of New Jersey is seeking a compassionate and experienced Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team. The CMA will provide essential clinical support to patients receiving addiction treatment while working closely with nursing staff, physicians, counselors, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced behavioral health and substance use treatment environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with assessing, evaluating, and treating patients undergoing addiction recovery.
- Obtain and document patient vital signs.
- Administer medications under appropriate supervision.
- Assist with urine drug screens, blood draws, and other clinical procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Monitor patients for changes in condition, medication reactions, or other concerns and promptly report findings to healthcare providers.
- Educate patients regarding medication adherence, treatment plans, and healthy lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, counselors, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Follow infection control, safety, confidentiality, and facility protocols.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic clinical environment.
- Assist with administrative duties, including appointment scheduling, telephone inquiries, and patient referrals.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from an accredited institution required.
- Previous clinical experience; addiction treatment or behavioral health experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and medications.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and professional approach to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a substance use disorder treatment facility, behavioral health facility, or similar healthcare setting.
- Additional training or certification in addiction medicine or substance abuse treatment.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
