Overview
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Cook to join our team. In this role, you will support the dietary department by assisting with meal preparation, food handling, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have some experience in food service or kitchen operations and a passion for helping others enjoy nutritious meals.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and assembling meals following established recipes and dietary guidelines.
- Support food preparation activities, including slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including sanitizing surfaces, washing dishes, and proper waste disposal.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently to ensure smooth meal production.
- Follow food safety standards in handling, storage, and serving food items to prevent contamination.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal service and address dietary needs or restrictions.
- Help with menu planning by organizing ingredients and ensuring adherence to recipe specifications.
Skills
- Previous experience in dietary departments or food service settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety management, sanitation practices, and safety standards in production environments.
- Strong knife skills, slicing techniques, and experience with food preparation methods.
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills for working with kitchen staff and team members.
- Experience with menu planning, meal prep, and catering is a plus.
- A proactive attitude with a focus on cleanliness, safety, and quality in food handling.
Pay: From $12.50 per hour
