Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Commercial Driver's License with HAZMAT (CDL) A Truck Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers across various routes, including over-the-road (OTR) driving, to deliver freight efficiently and securely. Your expertise in handling different types of cargo, such as dry freight, hazardous materials, and tanker shipments, will ensure our customers receive their products on time and in perfect condition. Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers on diverse routes, including OTR driving routes, ensuring compliance with all DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transit.
- Transport a variety of cargo types, hazardous materials (hazmat), tankers, and dangerous goods, following all hazardous materials regulations.
- Use GPS navigation systems to plan optimal routes, monitor traffic conditions, and ensure timely deliveries across multiple destinations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before departure and upon return.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, or issues during transit.
Requirements
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, roll-off trucks, dump trucks, and other specialized equipment is preferred.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations related to truck driving, hazardous materials handling, load securing, and safety protocols.
- Ability to manually handle cargo safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time tracking.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations concerning driver hours-of-service and vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety and customer service excellence.
- Physical ability to load/unload freight manually or with equipment; must be able to lift heavy items when required.
