We specialize in commercial drywall, cold-formed metal framing, and acoustical ceilings (ACT). We're looking for an experienced Commercial Estimator to join our team and play a key role in our continued growth.
Position Summary
The Commercial Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial construction projects while helping secure profitable work. The ideal candidate has extensive experience estimating commercial drywall, metal framing, and acoustical ceiling systems and can manage multiple bids simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Perform complete quantity takeoffs.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities.
- Attend pre-bid meetings when required.
- Coordinate with project managers during project handoff.
- Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, vendors, and clients.
- Track bids and maintain estimating records.
- Assist with budgeting and change order pricing as needed.
- Meet estimating deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in commercial drywall, metal framing, and acoustical ceilings.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction methods and sequencing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience with BuzzBid, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Planswift, or similar estimating software.
- Strong Excel and computer skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience estimating projects ranging from $100,000 to $10+ million.
- Knowledge of Division 9 interior finishes.
- Existing relationships with Southeast general contractors.
- Experience working in the commercial construction market throughout the Southeast.
