Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support surgical procedures by preparing operating rooms and assisting surgical teams in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery environment. Experience in Oculoplastic and ambulatory surgery centers is highly valued. No nights, weekends or holidays. Most often surgery does not go past 5pm. Great work/life balance. You would work up to 2 days a week between 8-20hrs per week.
The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in ensuring patient safety, infection control, and efficient surgical operations through meticulous attention to detail and adherence to aseptic techniques.
Duties
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to surgical procedures.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Ensure proper handling and sterilization of surgical instruments and supplies in compliance with infection control standards.
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and wound care during surgeries across various specialties including PICU, ICU, pediatrics, and trauma centers.
- Support preoperative and postoperative patient care activities as directed by medical staff.
- Demonstrate proficiency in anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, suturing techniques, and critical care practices.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in outpatient surgery centers.
Requirements
- Graduate of a surgical tech program. Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential preferred.
- At least 1 year OR experience or prior experience in Oculoplastic surgery highly desired.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and medical terminology.
- Demonstrated analysis skills for assessing patient needs and operative conditions.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow strict protocols for infection control and safety standards.
