The Health Programs coordinator will assist the Nutrition and Health Programs Manager with implementing and tracking health and nutrition programming, targeting food-insecure individuals in our 8-county service area. They will coordinate health and nutrition projects to promote nutrition through our food bank programs. In addition, they will support relationships with health care and other large partners to develop and coordinate the provision of support, resources, and education to the communities we serve.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of programs to promote health and nutrition for neighbors using our food resources across our 8-county service area.
· Work with community partners and food bank staff to pilot innovative projects; building program models based on project objectives and funding guidelines.
· Build partnerships with community-based and healthcare organizations committed to health equity in under-resourced communities.
· Assist with current healthcare initiatives, including food sourcing, case management for participants, relationship building with cross-functional teams, and developing reports.
· Assist with program grant applications related to health and nutrition projects.
· Coordinate reporting and compliance for various grant-funded programs and activities.
· Continue updates to nutrition ranking guidelines for food procurement.
· Assist with program budgets.
· Evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
· Disseminate a variety of information and/or reports to various agencies, divisions, or departments.
· Travel to various healthcare and community partners to aid in programming.
· Handle project timeframes and meet deadlines.
· Represent the South Michigan Food Bank at various community groups and meetings.
· Assist with community events as needed (health fairs, program partner presentations, etc.)
· Assist with department or agency-wide events, as requested.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Associate degree or two-year experience in nutrition, dietetics, or public health preferred
· A valid driver’s license, a reliable car, and insurance.
· Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, and written skills.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and standard office equipment.
· Demonstrated customer relationship management and partnership development skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of organizations, from health systems to community organizations, progressing relationships from a sole focus on food distribution to advancing a culture of community nutrition and health.
· Detail-oriented.
· Strong analytical skills.
· Ability to solve problems creatively.
· Ability to speak in front of a group and facilitate training and meetings.
· Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, and offsite
· ServSafe Certified or the ability to be certified.
· Strong writing, graphic presentation, and editing skills for the creation of program materials.
· Experience in program development/project coordination and the ability to meet deadlines while working multiple projects.
Work Environment
· Work is generally performed in an office environment while sitting at a computer for extended periods.
· Periodically walks through the facility to communicate with staff.
· Occasionally works outside regular working hours and drives a personal vehicle for business purposes.
· Periodically works outside the food bank at healthcare partner sites, which may include standing for prolonged periods, lifting, and moving various program supplies from 20 -40 lbs.
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
