Job Overview
The Pastry Prep assists in the preparation, production, and presentation of pastries, desserts, and baked goods. This role supports the Pastry Chef in ensuring high-quality items, consistent standards, and smooth daily kitchen operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of pastry or baking experience required.
- Strong understanding of baking techniques, ingredients, and pastry equipment.
- Ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions.
- Good time-management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and creativity in presentation.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Team-player attitude with strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to established recipes and standards
- Decorate cakes and pastries with creative designs, ensuring visual appeal
- Package finished products efficiently for retail or catering purposes
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station and kitchen area
- Follow food safety guidelines and proper handling procedures at all times
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely production of high-quality baked goods
- Contribute to menu development by suggesting new pastry ideas and techniques
Skills
- Proven experience in cake decorating, baking, and food production
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, food handling, and safety standards
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in various culinary tools
- Experience with food preparation in a commercial kitchen or restaurant setting
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Customer service skills to interact positively with clients or guests when needed
