As a Deputy Editor, you will help lead Development Communications for our grassroots brands, including Americans for Prosperity, The LIBRE Initiative, Concerned Veterans for America, and related efforts.
This role will oversee Development Communications, including the editorial calendar, workflows, review cycles, deadlines, approvals, and handoffs. The Deputy Editor will directly manage writers focused on Development Communications, ensuring work is strategically planned, clearly assigned, well edited, and delivered with accuracy, consistency, and quality.
This team’s portfolio includes donor-facing emails, proposals, pitch decks, direct mail packages, polling memos, stewardship updates, and related materials. The Deputy Editor will help ensure these products translate policy, strategy, campaign context, and impact into compelling content for donor audiences.
The ideal candidate is a strong editor, people manager, and editorial operator who can balance strategy with execution. This person will collaborate across Marketing, Fundraising Strategy, policy, legal/compliance, creative, and grassroots partner teams to move complex projects from intake to final review. Over time, this role should grow into greater ownership of final editorial review and approval readiness.
This role requires electoral campaign experience, strong editorial judgment, direct people-management experience, comfort with complex workflows, familiarity with AI tools, and the ability to shape high-quality donor-facing content. The Deputy Editor should also be willing to write, revise, and develop high-priority content directly when needed.
Directly manage a team of writers focused on Development Communications, creating a culture of editorial excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Lead editorial workflow and process improvements across intake, prioritization, assignments, review cycles, approvals, deadlines, and handoffs.
Edit, shape, and occasionally write donor-facing content, including donor emails, proposals, pitch decks, direct mail packages, polling memos, stewardship updates, and related materials.
Own the content calendar for grassroots partners and initiatives, ensuring donor-facing content is planned, prioritized, assigned, and delivered on deadline.
Collaborate with Marketing, Fundraising Strategy, Policy, Legal/Compliance, Creative, and Grassroots teams to ensure content is accurate, strategically aligned, and polished.
7+ years of professional experience in editing, writing, content strategy, communications, or publishing, including direct people-management experience.
Strong editorial judgment, with the ability to improve content structure, clarity, tone, message discipline, accuracy, and audience relevance.
Experience managing complex editorial calendars, workflows, review processes, and cross-functional content projects.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to translate policy, strategy, polling, and organizational priorities into compelling donor-facing content.
Strong stakeholder-management skills, comfort using performance and workflow insights to improve execution, and alignment with Stand Together’s values of humility, integrity, entrepreneurialism, and principled problem-solving.

For this role, the anticipated base salary range is $120,000–$140,000 per year. This role may also be eligible for additional bonus compensation designed to align total compensation with an employee’s overall contribution to the organization.
