Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Local Hazmat Tanker Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of hazardous materials regulations and have proven experience in commercial truck driving, specifically with tanker and refrigerated trailer operations. Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped with hazardous materials (Hazmat) and refrigerated trailers, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Transport hazardous and dangerous goods via route driving, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining safety standards at all times.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, ensuring proper cargo securing, especially for hazardous or sensitive items such as refrigerated or flatbed loads.
- Utilize GPS navigation systems to follow designated routes efficiently, adjusting plans as needed for traffic or road conditions.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and cargo to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate deliveries, optimize routes, and ensure freight integrity during transit.
- Follow all safety protocols related to the transportation of dangerous goods, including proper handling procedures for tanker loads and refrigerated freight.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for Hazmat, tanker, and possibly refrigeration units.
- Proven experience in truck driving, particularly with tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, DOT rules, and safety standards for commercial truck driving.
- Demonstrated ability to manually handle cargo safely and efficiently during load & unload operations.
- Experience operating GPS navigation systems for route planning in over-the-road (OTR) driving routes within local areas.
- Familiarity with logistics cargo handling procedures for freight that includes dangerous goods or sensitive items requiring refrigeration or specialized transport methods.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety compliance and adherence to all federal and state transportation laws.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and professionalism.
