Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide direct care to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with facility policies and procedures. Reports the resident's needs and concerns to a licensed nurse.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists the RN, LVN, and other members of the nursing team in the care of the patient.
- Provides good quality resident care by performing routine nursing care and services to defined patient groups and their families.
- Properly plans and organizes work for the assigned shift to ensure the patient receives appropriate quality care (passing ice water to ensure hydration, providing showers as assigned, ensuring shower room cleanliness, rounding often, meal service attendance, room cleanliness (beds made), attending to resident grooming needs, etc.).
- Provides emotional and social support to residents.
- Demonstrates clear and effective communication skills. Asks questions and seeks guidance when not sure of what to do.
- Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers that contributes to a positive work atmosphere.
- Accurately completes and documents assignments in the Electronic Medical Records system (PCC).
- Perform other duties as assigned/required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Active Texas CNA certification.
- Ability to lift at least 51 pounds regularly and safely assist residents who require physical support.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation.
