We are seeking a highly organized and dependable Inventory & Logistics Coordinator / Yard Manager with experience in the fencing, construction materials, building supply, or contractor yard environment. This position is responsible for overseeing all yard operations, inventory management, material handling, equipment tracking, and logistics coordination to ensure our installation crews have the materials, equipment, and support necessary to execute projects efficiently and on schedule.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of fencing materials including chain link, ornamental iron, PVC, aluminum, temporary fence, construction fence, gate hardware, access control components, and miscellaneous fencing accessories. This individual will be responsible for maintaining an organized yard, managing inventory levels, coordinating deliveries, preparing material packages for crews, and ensuring efficient movement of materials between suppliers, the yard, and project sites.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory counts of chain link fence materials, PVC fencing, aluminum fencing, ornamental iron fencing, temporary fencing, gate operators, gate hardware, access control equipment, fittings, fasteners, concrete supplies, and miscellaneous installation materials.
Material Tracking: Monitor inventory levels and proactively identify stock shortages. Coordinate with purchasing and operations teams to ensure materials are ordered and replenished before shortages impact project schedules.
Yard Operations: Oversee all daily yard activities including material organization, storage, staging, loading, unloading, inventory counts, housekeeping, and equipment management.
Truck Loading & Crew Support: Prepare and stage materials for upcoming projects. Verify that installation crews receive the correct quantities of posts, rails, mesh, gates, fittings, hardware, concrete, tools, and equipment prior to leaving the yard.
Delivery & Logistics Coordination: Schedule and coordinate material deliveries, supplier pickups, inter-yard transfers, and transportation of equipment and materials to active job sites throughout the New York metropolitan area.
Receiving & Inspection: Receive incoming deliveries and verify quantities, material condition, specifications, and packing slips. Identify and report shortages, damaged materials, or supplier discrepancies.
Equipment Management: Track company assets including forklifts, trailers, generators, compressors, welding equipment, temporary fencing, tools, safety equipment, and installation machinery. Coordinate maintenance and repair schedules as necessary.
Inventory Organization: Establish and maintain designated storage locations for all fencing materials, hardware, and equipment to ensure efficient retrieval, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Material Returns & Recovery: Manage the return, inspection, sorting, and restocking of unused materials and equipment from completed projects.
Process Improvement: Develop and implement systems for inventory control, yard organization, material tracking, equipment accountability, and operational efficiency.
Quality Control: Ensure materials issued to crews meet project requirements and company standards. Verify that materials are protected from damage and stored appropriately.
Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment. Enforce OSHA requirements, company safety policies, forklift safety procedures, and proper material handling practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in yard management, inventory management, warehouse operations, fencing supply distribution, construction materials management, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of chain link fencing systems, PVC fencing systems, ornamental iron fencing, aluminum fencing, gate hardware, fence fittings, fence accessories, and general fencing installation materials.
- Experience organizing and managing contractor yards, fencing supply yards, construction material warehouses, or similar operations.
- Proven experience loading trucks, staging materials, coordinating deliveries, receiving inventory, and supporting field installation crews.
- Strong understanding of inventory control procedures, stock management, material tracking, and equipment accountability.
- Ability to accurately identify fencing materials including posts, rails, mesh, tension wire, fittings, gates, gate hardware, slats, PVC components, and miscellaneous accessories.
- Forklift experience required. Forklift certification preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory tracking software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced construction environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining an organized and efficient operation.
- Ability to lift and move construction materials and equipment as required.
- English proficiency (required).
- Must be located in NYC or within 25 miles of Brooklyn, NY 11207.
- Ability to commute to Brooklyn, NY 11207 (required).
- Authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $60,000–$80,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
