Childcare Staff Member (Summer 2026)
Program/Department: Out of School Time (Children ages 5 to 12 years old)
Reports To: OOST and Summer Program Supervisor
Position Summary
The Childcare Staff Member is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children. This role supports children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through planned activities, play, and daily care routines.
Core Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage with children at all times to ensure safety and well-being
- Plan and implement age-appropriate routines and activities
- Assist with daily routines, including meals and hygiene
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
- Encourage positive behavior and model appropriate social interactions and conflict resolution
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress and needs
- Observe and document children’s development and report concerns when necessary
- Maintain written documentation such as attendance, accident/incident reports, etc.
- Follow all licensing and food program regulations and center policies
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with other staff members and participate in team meetings/trainings
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
- Required Qualifications/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with children (childcare, preschool, or similar setting)
- Knowledge of child development principles
- Required Training:
- Follow Annual Professional Development Plan as set by Director of Licensed Programs (typically requiring 16-24 hours of paid training yearly)
- CPR & First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain)

- Patience, reliability, and a genuine passion for working with children

- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with children, families, and staff
- Open and often communication with other staff members, supervisor, and families

- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure, professionalism, and confidentiality
Working Conditions & Expectations
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, sit on the floor, bend, and move quickly as needed
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors
- Fingerprinting/background check required
- Fast-paced, emphasis on safety

Schedule
Seasonal Position: Ideal hire by June 8 Program begins Monday, June 15 and ends August 21

- Split Shift: Monday - Thursday 6:30 am - 10:15 am then back 2:45 pm - 6:30 pm
Fridays Open 6:30 am to 12:30 pm or Close 12:30 pm to 6:30 pm
Other Availability and Typical Shifts
- Opening Only Monday - Thursday 6:30 am to 10:15 am
- Closing Only Monday – Thursday 2:45 pm to 6:30 pm
- Friday Open 6:30 am – 12:30 pm
- Friday Close 12:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Pay: $13.73 - $14.00 per hour
