Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sushi Line team member to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Japanese cuisine, excellent food handling skills, and experience in food preparation and service. This role involves preparing high-quality sushi in a fast-paced environment, ensuring food safety standards are met, and maintaining a clean and organized work station. Previous experience in fine dining or the food industry is preferred, along with strong knife skills and knowledge of menu planning.
Duties
- Prepare sushi ingredients and assemble sushi rolls according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi line to adhere to food safety regulations
- Assist with menu planning and ingredient ordering to ensure freshness and availability
- Handle food safely, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation procedures
- Support kitchen staff with food preparation tasks such as cutting, portioning, and plating
- Ensure timely service during peak hours while maintaining quality standards
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management
- Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for staff and customers
Experience
- Prior experience in food preparation, especially in sushi or Japanese cuisine, is highly desirable
- Background in culinary arts, fine dining, or the food industry is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety practices and proper handling techniques
- Experience with menu planning, catering, or serving in a restaurant setting is a plus
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation techniques
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment used in sushi preparation and general food service operations
