Hook & Press is an artisan donut shop that focuses on scratch-made, craft specialty donuts as well as a limited morning menu featuring signature breakfast sandwiches and more. We hold our beverage program in as high regard as we do our donuts, serving Santa Barbara-based Coastal Coffee Collective coffee drinks and locally crafted beer and wine. We strive to be a place that welcomes every guest with a smile and serves up good vibes, great drinks and amazing food and donuts each time.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
At Hook & Press, our Line Cooks play a key role in making sure our breakfast menu is executed to our standards. They are responsible for setting the pace for a great shift, every shift.
We're seeking an experienced professional to deliver top-notch breakfast dishes with efficiency, consistency, and cleanliness. You'll manage daily prep, master all kitchen stations through comprehensive cross-training, and expertly prepare every recipe to perfection.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure proper food handling and sanitation practices are followed at all times by cooks
- Prepare breakfast menu during service; ensure that dishes are executed to company standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work spaces
- Complete prep tasks to ensure that all prepared ingredients needed on a daily basis are being produced
- Track quantities of sauces, toppings, garnishes, meat, egg and dairy products at the end of the shift, ensure that items are always labeled/FIFO’d
- Communicate items that need to be ordered/purchased to the Owner before running out
- Have a thorough knowledge of all of the disciplines of the kitchen to be able to fill in for any position
- Visually identify quality or bad product before and after it is mixed; remove any unacceptable product
- Ensure maintenance of equipment and tools used daily and report any malfunctions to the Owner immediately
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work a variety of shifts (line cook, prep, expo), including weekends and some holidays
- Ability to work in a standing position for the duration of the shift
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop and lift up to 50 pounds
- Fluency to read and communicate in English
- Food Handler’s Certification (within 30 days of hire)
