Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Gastroenterology Technician with experience Requirements include assisting physician with procedures using biopsy forceps, polypectomy snare, Endo clip, esophageal dilation balloons & Maloney dilators, and cautery. You will also be responsible for assisting the circulating nurse with room turnover, patient transport, and ensuring that the room is stocked and ready for the day's cases. We are a private GI Endoscopy Center with 2 procedure rooms providing quality care in Clearwater for over 30 years.
Manual bedside cleaning of endoscopes and high level disinfection reprocessing experience and understanding is a must.
We use Olympus OER Pro for disinfecting and experience with this machine is a plus.
Responsibilities
As an Endoscopy Tech, you will be essential in supporting the endoscopy team by utilizing your knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, and aseptic techniques. Reporting to the lead endoscopy nurse, your primary responsibilities will include assisting with diagnostic evaluations and ensuring the cleanliness and proper functioning of medical imaging equipment. Your expertise in anatomy will enhance patient care and safety during procedures. .
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures, including setting up equipment and maintaining a clean environment.
- Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained according to aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Stay updated on advancements in gastroenterology practices and technologies.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to gastroenterology.
- Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, particularly related to the digestive system.
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and medical staff.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Certification or equivalent required within first 6 months of hire
