The Boys & Girls Club of Moorpark & Simi Valley is seeking an energetic, dependable, and enthusiastic Middle School Program Specialist to join our after-school team. In this role, you'll help create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where students can build confidence, develop leadership skills, complete homework, and participate in fun enrichment activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in education, youth development, recreation, social work, or counseling.
Responsibilities
- Build positive relationships with middle school youth and serve as a mentor and role model.
- Lead engaging enrichment activities, including STEM, arts, leadership, recreation, and team-building.
- Assist students with homework and academic success during Power Hour.
- Supervise participants while maintaining a safe, positive, and inclusive environment.
- Support behavior management using positive reinforcement and relationship-building techniques.
- Encourage participation, teamwork, leadership, and respect among members.
- Prepare and organize program materials and activity spaces.
- Communicate professionally with staff, families, and school personnel.
- Assist with special events, field trips, and Club activities.
- Follow all Boys & Girls Club safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience working with youth is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, positive, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lead groups of middle school students in a structured environment.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday: 2:30 PM–6:00 PM
- Additional hours may be available on school breaks, minimum days, staff trainings, and special events.
