Why are we looking for a new Medical Director?
Dr. Karram has served as Medical Director since 2020 and is retiring from the practice as part of his complete retirement from medicine. The goal is to ensure a smooth transition of leadership and continuity of clinical oversight.
Medical Director Role & Responsibilities
Clinical Oversight
- Serve as the senior clinical oversight authority for the organization, providing an independent layer of review, accountability, and quality assurance across all clinical operations.
- Provide supervision and guidance to physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff as needed.
- Serve as a resource for complex patient cases, treatment decisions, protocol interpretation, and clinical problem-solving.
- Act as collaborating physician for nurse practitioners where required by state law.
- Assist with provider onboarding, mentorship, and ongoing clinical development.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular chart audits and quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with established protocols, documentation standards, and best practices.
- Participate in monthly remote clinical leadership meetings (anticipated approximately one day per month) focused on chart review, provider performance, case discussion, and clinical quality initiatives.
- Review clinical outcomes, identify trends, and recommend improvements where appropriate.
- Participate in peer review activities and continuing education initiatives.
Clinical Governance & Compliance
- Review and approve clinical policies, treatment protocols, standing orders, and SOP updates.
- Help maintain and strengthen the organization's existing framework of written clinical protocols and standardized operating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with state medical board requirements, telemedicine regulations, scope-of-practice laws, and applicable healthcare regulations.
- Support risk management initiatives and provide clinical leadership during compliance-related reviews when necessary.
- Obtain and maintain physician licensure in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and additional states as needed to support practice operations.
Strategic Clinical Leadership
- Provide input regarding future clinical services, treatment offerings, and patient care initiatives.
- Assist with evaluation of emerging therapies, technologies, and evidence-based treatment approaches.
- Support provider recruiting efforts and help assess clinical candidates when appropriate.
- Contribute to the continued refinement of clinical workflows, patient care standards, and quality improvement initiatives.
Time Commitment
- Anticipated commitment is approximately one dedicated half or full day per month for scheduled chart review, quality assurance activities, provider collaboration, and clinical leadership meetings, with limited additional availability for consultation and administrative approvals as needed throughout the month. This would include scheduled on site meetings as needed, quarterly or bi-annually.
What This Role Is Not
- This is not a full-time operational position.
- This is not a high-volume clinical role requiring routine patient care responsibilities.
- This is not a 40-hour-per-week position.
Pay: $2,500.00 - $5,000.00 per month
