Why does the job exist?
The Senior Accountant will:
Monitor, reconcile, process, and maintain multiple accounting records and funding sources for Accounts Payable (AP);
Act as a first level preparer of financial documents for the AP Bureau ensuring records are accurate and complaint with Federal and State laws, regulations and standards.
How does it get done?
The Senior Accountant is responsible for:
Reviewing division documentation and criteria ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations;
Entering vendor payment vouchers, journal entries and journal vouchers into SHARE Financial for multiple different divisions;
Auditing and processing in-state and out-of-state travel for all Health Care Authority (HCA) division staff;
Ensuring that the monitoring, reconciling, and processing of financial information for accounts payable transactions are in compliance with GASB (Government Accounting Standards Board), DFA Model of Accounting Practices, and Health Care Authority (HCA) policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must obtain a Defensive driving certification.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage with extended periods of sitting. Some standing, bending and reaching may be required.
