GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Pineland Farms Natural Meats is a further processing meat facility with multiple production lines as well as a pre-production room. Our goal is to deliver high quality and safe product to our customers, while adhering to HACCP, USDA and our company policies. The 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing systems and equipment throughout the production facility. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, this position ensures all equipment remains in safe, operational condition while minimizing downtime. Effective communication across departments is essential to achieving organizational goals efficiently. Responsibilities include responding to maintenance requests, providing timely updates on repair progress, and notifying relevant personnel upon job completion.
This is a full-time, second-shift position designed to overlap with first shift to provide additional coverage. The general schedule is 3:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, this position requires flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the needs of the company and manage unexpected situations.
Duties include and are not limited to:
- Preventative maintenance of equipment and building
- Basic repairs including production and facilities equipment, offices, and warehouse
- Basic knowledge of machine operation
- Inspect processing equipment
- Work order maintenance
- Parts inventory control
- Alert appropriate staff to potential equipment problems
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace
- Inspect and test mechanical systems
- Inspect building surroundings to ensure safety
- Participating in preoperational check with Quality Assurance to ensure that all equipment is in safe and working order
- Working with other departments to achieve organizational goals
- Completing additional tasks as needed which are not described in this task description
EXPERIENCE
Prior experience in equipment maintenance and repair is required – food manufacturing equipment is preferred. Prior electrical experience is required. Demonstrated skills with hand and power tools is required. Employee must be able to work as a part of a team, in a refrigerated environment, and follow verbal and written instruction. Employee should be mechanically inclined and have a desire to problem solve. Proficiency in communication skills and a command of the English language are required. Basic level of expertise in Microsoft Office is required.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED is required.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Valid driver’s license is required.
