JOB Responsible for Heavy and Light Equipment operation, maintenance of equipment, and job safety, and assisting in the maintenance and construction of the City of Denton roadway system. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Functions:-
Operates heavy complex motorized equipment such as paving/milling machine, track loader, scraper, compaction equipment, backhoe, front-end loader, skid steer loader, asphalt roller, and motor grader, etc. in a proficient manner for the purpose of construction, maintenance, or repair of the City of Denton?s roadways

Performs skilled tasks associated with equipment operation and operates smaller equipment as needed when working on or around utilities.

Inspects and checks equipment before and after use, performs minor maintenance activities and reports exceptional problems to supervisor

Frequently assumes crew chief responsibilities in coordinating the activities of maintenance persons, helpers, and/or other equipment operations
-
Will be required to work on call shifts and overtime as required.

Occasionally confers with customers regarding service problems and reports information obtained to supervisor

Reads and understands reference books and complicated procedures such as street/utility plans and equipment operation manuals

Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids:
The essential functions of this position require the use of backhoe, dump truck, bobcat, dozer, track hoe, asphalt roller, motor grader, and other compaction equipment; wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) issued by City of Denton that may include gloves, hard hat, safety goggles/eye protection, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, and uniforms.
Environmental Factors:
The essential functions of this position are performed in various types of weather from extreme cold to extreme heat.
