Position: Curriculum Supervisor of LiteracyLocation: District WideSchedule: 2026-2027 School Year (210 day administrative position)Salary: $110,000 - $130,000To Start: August 2026Position Overview: In this district-wide leadership role, the Curriculum Supervisor of Literacy drives the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a high-quality, coherent, and equitable literacy program aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and grounded in the Science of Reading. The Supervisor leads curriculum review and revision to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across all grade levels PK12, and ensures that curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices are culturally responsive, inclusive, and accessible to all learners, including English Learners and students with disabilities.The Supervisor analyzes district, school, and classroom-level data to identify trends, monitor literacy outcomes, and guide instructional decision-making, and collaborates closely with district and school administrators, curriculum leaders, and teachers to strengthen literacy teaching and learning at every level. This position carries direct supervisory responsibility for literacy educators, including observation, coaching, and evaluation in accordance with Massachusetts Educator Evaluation regulations. The Supervisor also plays a central role in building professional capacity across the district by designing and facilitating ongoing, job-embedded professional learning rooted in Structured Literacy practices, with a strong emphasis on early literacy foundational skills, and supporting the recruitment and onboarding of literacy educators.Qualifications: Massachusetts Teaching Certification as Reading Specialist or ELA, requiredMassachusetts licensure as a Supervisor/Director, Principal/Assistant Principal, or equivalent, requiredSheltered English Immersion (SEI) Administrator Endorsement, requiredMaster's Degree or higher in Reading, Curriculum Leadership, Educational Leadership, or a related fieldMinimum of five (5) years of successful Reading or English Language Arts teaching experienceDemonstrated experience as an instructional coach, curriculum leader, or literacy specialistDuties and Responsibilities: Lead the implementation of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) aligned to the Science of Reading across PK12Champion early literacy foundational skills instruction phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and vocabulary as the cornerstone of the PK3 literacy programDrive the districts shift toward Structured Literacy practices with vertical and horizontal alignment across all grade levelsEnsure elementary literacy instruction maintains a balanced focus on both knowledge-building content and foundational skills developmentEnsure Tier 1 core instruction and Tier 2/3 interventions are evidence-based and culturally sustainingEnsure the literacy curriculum is standards-aligned, culturally responsive, inclusive, and accessible to all learners, including English Learners and students with disabilitiesServe as the districts primary instructional expert for literacy, providing ongoing, content-specific feedback at all levelsConduct classroom observations focused on instructional practice and deliver constructive, growth-oriented feedback to teachersSupport building principals in the supervision and evaluation of literacy educators, serving as a content expert and resource Partner with principals and instructional leaders to identify strengths and areas for growth within the literacy programsModel effective literacy instructional strategies and co-teach or demonstrate lessons as needed to support teacher developmentLead district-wide Literacy Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and curriculum committees focused on continuous improvementDesign and facilitate a PK12 Professional Development Plan focused on structured literacy, writing instruction, and disciplinary literacy at the secondary levelOversee sthe districts universal screening process and data-cycle meetings to identify students at risk for reading difficulties, including dyslexiaAnalyze district-wide literacy data, including MCAS and benchmark assessments such as mCLASS, i-Ready, and DIBELS 8th EditionIdentify achievement gaps and guide instructional decision-making in collaboration with school and district administratorsServe as a member of the district leadership team, contributing to district-wide instructional initiatives and strategic planningCollaborate with other curriculum supervisors and district leaders to ensure interdisciplinary alignment and coherenceCultivate family-school partnerships by providing resources and workshops that empower caregivers to support literacy development at homeCommunicate literacy program goals and progress to families, staff, and community stakeholdersStay current with research, best practices, and emerging trends in literacy education, instructional technology, and assessmentPerform any additional tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools
