Position Summary
As a Wire EDM Programmer / Operator at Mar-Vel Tool, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and maintaining Wire EDM equipment to manufacture precision tooling, die components, fixtures, and custom machined parts. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced job shop environment.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the complete Wire EDM process—from programming and setup through final inspection—while ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety policies and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Program, set up, and operate Mitsubishi Wire EDM machines.
- Machine hardened tool steels, die components, fixtures, punches, inserts, and precision parts.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.
- Develop and verify Wire EDM programs, offsets, cutting conditions, and machining strategies.
- Perform machine setup, workholding, and alignment for efficient production.
- Inspect first-off, in-process, and completed parts using precision measuring equipment.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
- Work closely with the CNC Coordinator and production team to prioritize work and meet schedules.
- Maintain accurate production, quality, and maintenance records.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with other machining activities as required.
Pay: $28.00 - $42.00 per hour
