Supervised by: Director of Senior/Junior Residential Life (Reslife)
Minimum Qualifications: Hiring subject to applicable URJ and Pennsylvania State background checks.
Supervision experience and ability to work with college-aged individuals and adolescents is expected. Able to actively look after ones’ own physical and mental health, and advocate for their own needs. A college senior or recent graduate with skills in time management, effective communication, and program development. Must be able to demonstrate flexibility, manage multiple projects at once, and work as part of a team. 1 year counselor experience. Experience in Jewish or secular overnight camp is a plus. Love and/or respect for The Arts and a diverse community is a must. 19 years of age by June 1 of this summer.
What you can expect from us:

- Average work day begins at roughly 7:30am and concludes when your campers are asleep (varies by age group), unless you are sitting on the rotating evening watch or during opening/ closing nights (up to half your evenings off per session)

Responsibilities
JEWISH

- Actively participate and demonstrate respect for ritual moments in conjunction with URJ practices, including Israel (your personal beliefs are also respected)
ARTS
- Support campers in their skills training and artistic growth
- Rotate through arts majors and camp activities daily to observe and support staff and campers
CAMP
Supervision
- Under the guidance of Reslife Director(s), supervise college-aged counselors, coaching and supporting them as role models for campers.
- Manage and support floor time, shower time, and timeliness of Unit
- Meet with community care team as needed
- Communicate any changes and updates regarding operations and logistics to unit staff in timely manner.
- Support regular and organized staff meetings.
- Coach counselors through interpersonal challenges and conflict resolution, escalate to Reslife Director and/or Community Care Team as needed.
- Create and role model positive culture for units. This could include cheers, dress-up days, and general campiness.
- Support counselors in the design and decorating of dorm floors, working in partnership with Summer Operations Director to secure supplies.
- Support policies and protocols for dorm floor operations in partnership with bunk counselors and Reslife Director
- Serve as liason between counselors and Reslife Director
- Offer input to Year-Round Team on co-counselor assignments
Programming
- Run and lead KinArts under the direction of Programming Director
- In partnership with Reslife Director, write and facilitate age-appropriate evening programs for unit engagement.
- Collaborate with other Assistant Unit Heads and Leadership on all-camp evening programs, theme days, camper health, counselor feedback and support
- Coordinate meaningful staff engagement opportunities that promote community bonding and wellness
- Lead staff week opportunities as directed
- Actively participate and encourage others in camp activities
Additional Responsibilities
- Abide by and enforce safety and security protocols and policies with all participants and staff.
- Attend Virtual Spring Orientation as scheduled
- Attend Leadership Team meetings as requested
- Attend routine meetings with Director of Reslife as scheduled
- Contribute to the overall positive morale of the camp community.
- Serve as Shmira (nightly on-duty coverage) as assigned
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Facilitate calls home, as directed
- Other responsibilities as needed
