Estimator/Project Manager (Part-Time)
BP Excavation is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager / Estimator to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment and wants to play a key role in the success of commercial excavation and utility projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience preparing estimates, reviewing plans and specifications, coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors, tracking project costs, assisting with project management, and communicating with clients and general contractors. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are essential.
We're looking for someone who is proactive, dependable, and eager to grow with our company. Experience in excavation, underground utilities, civil construction, or site development is highly preferred.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and accurate cost estimates for excavation, utility, and civil construction projects.
- Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop competitive project estimates.
- Analyze labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs to prepare complete bid proposals.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare and submit bids, proposals, and estimate revisions before deadlines.
- Coordinate project submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and budget tracking.
- Communicate with general contractors, clients, vendors, and field personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
- Track material procurement and monitor project costs to help ensure projects stay on budget.
- Attend project meetings as needed (in person or virtually).
- Maintain organized project files, estimates, bid records, and contract documents.
- Identify new bidding opportunities and maintain the company bid calendar.
- Assist with project closeout documentation and ensure compliance with contract requirements and company standards.
Skills
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu or similar PDF markup software for plan review and document management.
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Experience with HeavyBid or other estimating software used in construction estimating processes.
- Solid understanding of construction estimating principles, cost control techniques, and pricing strategies.
- Construction site experience that provides insight into field operations and safety protocols.
- Knowledge of construction management practices including scheduling, contracts, and project documentation.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
