Overview
EMB International Corp is a growing transportation and logistics company seeking a dependable, professional 1099 Over-the-Road (OTR) Box Truck Driver to provide transportation services throughout the Western and Central United States.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced driver who values independence, takes pride in their work, communicates effectively, and understands the importance of delivering exceptional customer service. As an Independent Contractor, you will operate a 28-foot box truck, transport freight safely and efficiently, and represent EMB International Corp with professionalism at every customer location.
We're looking for someone who is reliable, accountable, self-motivated, and committed to meeting delivery schedules while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Primary Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 28-foot box truck in compliance with all FMCSA, DOT, state, and federal regulations.
- Transport freight throughout the Western and Central United States.
- Load, unload, and properly secure freight using pallet jacks, liftgates, and other approved equipment.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Verify freight against Bills of Lading (BOLs), manifests, and delivery documentation.
- Obtain customer signatures and accurately complete required paperwork.
- Maintain compliance with Electronic Logging Device (ELD) requirements and Hours of Service regulations.
- Plan efficient travel routes while meeting scheduled pickup and delivery appointments.
- Promptly communicate delays, mechanical issues, accidents, or delivery exceptions.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper care of company equipment.
- Represent EMB International Corp professionally at all customer locations.
Qualifications
- Valid REAL Driver's License
- Current DOT Medical Card
- Clean driving record
- Ability to obtain TWIC Card
- Commercial driving or box truck experience preferred
- Experience operating ELD systems
- Ability to safely load, unload, and secure freight
- Experience with pallet jacks, liftgates, and forklifts is preferred
- Ability to safely lift and move heavy freight when required
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Excellent time management and route planning abilities
- Professional appearance and positive attitude
- Ability to remain on the road for multiple days when assignments require overnight travel

Compensation
Introductory Period
- $2,900 per month during the first 90 days.
After Successful Completion of 90 Days
- Compensation increases to approximately $3,650 per month based on satisfactory performance.
- Eligible for commission opportunities on qualifying weekend assignments.
- May be issued a Company credit card for approved business-related expenses in accordance with Company policy.
This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position. Compensation is assignment-based and may vary depending on available work and accepted assignments.
Expenses & Travel
- Independent Contractors are responsible for lodging, meals, and incidental travel expenses incurred while operating over the road (OTR).
- Contractors must maintain a valid personal credit card to cover hotel accommodations and approved travel expenses while on assignment.
- At the Company's sole discretion, up to 50% of qualifying hotel expenses may be reimbursed on a case-by-case basis. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and must receive prior Company approval.
- Additional earning opportunities may become available based on business needs, customer demand, and contractor performance.
Minimum Requirements
- Pass a background screening.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Maintain compliance with all FMCSA Hours of Service regulations.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Maintain a clean driving record.
- Maintain a valid DOT Medical Card throughout the engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial or box truck driving experience preferred.
- Previous OTR experience strongly preferred.
- Experience operating an Electronic Logging Device (ELD).
- Experience with liftgates, pallet jacks, and freight securement.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attendance and communication history.
