Duties

- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing dental records to ensure comprehensive care.
- Capture and interpret dental radiographs (X-rays) using advanced medical imaging equipment while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong dental health.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR management systems like Open Dental or Dentrix) with detailed documentation of treatments, medical coding, and patient interactions.
- Uphold strict infection control standards by practicing aseptic techniques, managing healthcare infection prevention measures, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Open Dental and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures.
- Experience with dental equipment operation, including X-ray machines, sterilization tools, and other clinical devices.
- Excellent patient communication skills with the ability to educate diverse age groups, especially pediatrics in pediatric dentistry settings.
- Ability to perform patient care tasks such as vital signs measurement, patient assessment, and chairside assisting efficiently.
- Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control practices to ensure a safe clinical environment.
- Knowledge of medical coding processes for billing purposes and EMR/EHR systems management to ensure accurate documentation.
