A Telecommunications Lineman installs and maintains fiber optic cable both overhead and underground. This position involves climbing utility poles, working from bucket trucks and aerial lifts, and placing fiber optic cable in residential, commercial, and roadway environments.
Install and service overhead and underground fiber optic cable

Climb utility poles and work safely at heights

Operate bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and cable placement equipment

Run strand and lash fiber optic cable from pole to pole

Pull and place underground fiber optic cable

Set up traffic control and work zones according to VDOT and safety requirements

Read and follow construction prints and utility maps

Coach and support groundmen during cable installation and daily operations

Perform daily equipment inspections and follow all safety procedures
Experience in telecom, fiber optic, or utility line work preferred

Ability to climb poles and work outdoors in all weather conditions

Comfortable working at heights and in roadway environments

Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred

Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physical labor

Knowledge of aerial and underground fiber construction is a plus
