United Analytical Laboratories, Inc. is a new and rapidly growing startup focused on investigating pharmaceutical quality, safety, and manufacturing integrity through advanced analytical testing, data science, and scientific research. We are seeking a motivated and intellectually curious Epidemiologist to join our team. This is an opportunity to work directly with senior leadership in a highly collaborative startup environment where initiative, hard work, and strong analytical thinking are highly valued.
Position Overview
The Epidemiologist will support pharmaceutical quality investigations through the analysis of large datasets, chemical testing results, adverse event trends, and related scientific information. This individual will help synthesize complex data into actionable insights that guide research priorities and investigative initiatives.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, comfortable working with large and sometimes imperfect datasets, and capable of clearly communicating findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze large healthcare, pharmaceutical, laboratory, and/or epidemiologic datasets to identify patterns, trends, and potential quality signals.
- Integrate chemical analytical testing results with epidemiologic and statistical analyses.
- Assist in developing and refining research hypotheses related to pharmaceutical quality investigations.
- Conduct statistical analyses and data interpretation using epidemiologic methods.
- Prepare clear summaries, presentations, and written reports for senior leadership.
- Collaborate closely with laboratory scientists, analysts, and executive leadership on ongoing investigations.
- Perform literature reviews and evaluate scientific publications relevant to pharmaceutical quality and public health.
- Support development of internal research methodologies and analytical frameworks.
- Maintain high standards of scientific rigor, organization, and documentation.
Qualifications
Required
- Master's degree or higher in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to synthesize complex information into concise and actionable conclusions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with statistical and data analysis tools (e.g., R, SAS, Python, STATA, SQL, or similar).
Preferred
- 1–5 years of epidemiology or analytical research experience in industry, academia, government, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or related settings.
- Experience working with large healthcare or scientific datasets.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical manufacturing, drug safety, laboratory testing, or quality systems.
- Experience preparing scientific reports, presentations, or publications.

Compensation & Location
- Base salary range: $80,000–$120,000, commensurate with experience.
- Eligible for stock options as part of the total compensation package.
- Hybrid to our New Haven, CT office, or fully remote with approximately 25% travel to the office expected.
