Job Overview
Canopy is a greenhouse café, garden center, and curated retail space designed to bring the garden into everyday life. We sell living things, useful objects, and beautiful essentials that make homes warmer, more human, and more connected to the natural world.
We are not a big-box store and not a gift shop. We care deeply about seasonality, turnover, usefulness, design integrity, and restraint. Our buying philosophy favors fewer, better things—items people actually use, eat, grow, or return for.
The Role
The Sales Manager and Merchandising Lead is responsible for what comes into the store—and just as importantly, what doesn’t.
This role blends aesthetic judgment, retail discipline, and operational coordination. You’ll source and manage plants, home goods, pantry items, seasonal offerings, and workshop-supporting products while keeping inventory fresh, intentional, and financially healthy.
You will work closely with leadership, plant care, café, and programming teams to ensure the floor always feels alive, edited, and aligned with Canopy’s brand story.

- Strong visual and aesthetic judgment
- Solid understanding of retail math (margin, turnover, sell-through)
- Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented

- Experience buying live goods (plants, flowers, produce)
- Familiarity with seasonal retail rhythms
- Knowledge of sustainable or ethical sourcing
- Visual merchandising experience
- Comfort working in a fast-growing, evolving business
How Success Is Measured
- Fresh, seasonally appropriate floor with strong sell-through

- Inventory that supports—not overwhelms—workshops and events
- Consistent alignment with Canopy’s brand and values
- Customers discovering things they didn’t know they needed—but now can’t live without
Why This Role Is Special
This is not a plug-and-play corporate buying role. You’ll have real influence over what Canopy becomes, how it feels, and how customers experience the space.
- If you love editing more than accumulating, value usefulness over novelty, and believe good retail can quietly improve people’s lives—this role will feel like home.
