American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Mother-Baby/Well Baby Nursery position in Walnut Creek, CA, requiring a current CA RN license and a minimum of 3 years of postpartum experience.

Mother-Baby/Well Baby Nursery unit at a 321-bed, Level II Trauma facility with approximately 225 deliveries per month
-
Patient population includes vaginal and cesarean section deliveries, magnesium sulfate patients, gestational hypertension (GHTN), and Bakri balloon management
-
Patient age range starts at 14 years

Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3, as mandated by California state law and adjusted based on patient acuity and census
-
12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week

Every other weekend requirement

Holiday coverage required in alignment with regular staff rotation

Documentation system: Epic; Medication system: Pyxis
-
Respiratory therapy and anesthesia available 24/7 for support

Lactation Consultant available on day, evening, and night shifts
-
Unit clerk/secretary on staff during day and evening shifts
-
No charge nurse duties required

Floating is not required

Active California (CA) RN license currently in hand at time of consideration

Required certifications: NRP and BLS/CPR (AHA or ARC only)

Minimum 3 years of clinical experience, with at least 3 years specifically in postpartum/mother-baby nursing

Epic EMR experience preferred

Preferred certifications: Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)

Two clinical references required from the last two places of employment, covering the past year, from a leadership role such as a Nurse Manager or Director (one reference) and a Charge Nurse (second reference)

7-year employment history required, with explanations provided for any gaps exceeding 30 days

Care is delivered using a primary care modality

Orientation is 2 days

Prior travel experience is strongly preferred, though not strictly required

Scrub color: any color; no denim; professional appearance required

Footwear must be non-skid, closed-toe; heel strap required with clogs

Jewelry should be minimal and professional; no facial piercings other than ears

Hair shoulder-length or longer must be pulled back; facial hair must be neat and trimmed

No gel, acrylic, or nail extensions; polish must be in good condition without chips or cracks
