Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and medical histories to ensure safe treatment plans
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
- Assist with dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow and patient comfort
- Operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, and sterilization tools following infection prevention protocols
- Review and update electronic health records (EHR) accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and safety measures are followed for diagnostic purposes
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and scheduling
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control standards including aseptic techniques
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with the dental team
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management to ensure accurate documentation
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices aligned with HIPAA compliance standards
