POSITION SUMMARY:
The Flight Paramedic is a licensed professional Paramedic who provides direct patient care during air medical transport. The Flight Paramedic provides patient care within the paramedic scope of practice. The Flight Paramedic will be expected to provide direct patient care either on FlightCare or in the Emergency Department. They will be available for Flight Response for the duration of their 12 hour shift. They also will be available to assist in Emergency Department patient care.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
-
Hazardous Materials training to the First Responder Awareness Level (dept tracking)
-
Three years’ experience (no less than 4,000 hours) as a Paramedic in the prehospital setting. If 4,000 hours are met by time of completion of orientation for this position, then that will satisfy this requirement.

Must meet physical requirements per the Enloe Flight Crew Weight Limitations policy

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:

Currently licensed by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority as a Paramedic

Accredited by the Sierra Sacramento Valley Emergency Medical Services to function as a Paramedic in the region

Certified Flight Paramedic (within 2 years of employment)

Current CPR recognition
-
Current NRP recognition
-
Current ACLS recognition
-
Current PALS recognition
-
Current PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support) or equivalent (dept tracking)

Current TPATC (Transport Provider Advanced Trauma Course) (within 18 months of hire) (dept tracking)

Current California driver's license with ambulance driver’s certificate to include the medical exam certificate (HR collects & sends to compliance upon hire and then dept tracks)

Eligible to be insured under the Medical Center’s Liability Policy with DMV Report (and minimum age 21)
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis. Must have the ability to motivate, delegate, analyze information, problem solve, and make effective decisions. Must be able to work effectively with peers, other departments, first responders and the public using good interpersonal skills, discretion and diplomacy. Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
