Job Description: Youth Development Professional (YDP)
Position Summary
The Youth Development Professional (YDP) is responsible for implementing high-quality programming, supervising youth ages 6–18, maintaining a safe and supportive Club environment, and serving as a positive role model. This position plays a vital role in supporting daily program delivery and ensuring the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens is upheld through meaningful interactions and engaging activities.
Key Responsibilities
Youth Engagement & Program Delivery

Facilitate and support a variety of Boys & Girls Clubs programs, such as:

Recreation & Gym Activities
-
Arts & Crafts
-
Academic Success Programs
-
Technology & Digital Literacy (tablets, computers, smartboards)

Money Matters / Workforce Development
-
Social-Emotional Learning Activities
-
Supervise club members ages 6–18 and ensure constant engagement and safety.

Serve as a positive role model and uphold high behavior expectations.

Ensure assigned program spaces stay structured, welcoming, and productive.

Assist with daily implementation of required Boys & Girls Clubs programming and goals.
Safety, Compliance & Member Management

Ensure all youth remain in authorized program spaces with proper supervision.

Support enforcement of access control, ensuring no unauthorized individuals enter programming areas.

Assist with member check-in/out procedures as directed by the Clubhouse Director.

Maintain a culture of respect, belonging, and youth protection at all times.
Operational & Facility Support

Provide general support to the Clubhouse Director as needed.

May perform janitorial tasks such as cleaning program areas, wiping surfaces, and maintaining overall facility cleanliness.

Assist with field trip preparation, supervision, and travel support.

Help set up and break down program areas before and after activities.
Professional Conduct

Work collaboratively with fellow YDPs, Clubhouse Directors, volunteers, and program partners.

Maintain flexibility and versatility when responding to changing daily needs.

Attend required staff meetings and professional development sessions.

Uphold the mission, values, and standards of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens.
Qualifications

Minimum age:16+
-
Experience working with youth preferred.

Ability to lead and engage small and large groups.
-
Reliable, responsible, and committed to supporting youth development work.

Must be able to communicate effectively with youth, families, and colleagues.

Willingness to learn and implement Boys & Girls Club programming models.

Basic technology skills (tablets, computers, smartboard support).
Required Before Employment Begins

Successful completion of a criminal background check.
-
All required onboarding documentation must be completed before attending or supervising youth.
