Job Description:
The Communications & Engagement Coordinator ensures F5 Project consistently tells its story while fostering meaningful relationships with the people who make our mission possible.
Working alongside Regional Directors, leadership, the Grants & Revenue Coordinator, Operations, and staff across the organization, this position coordinates F5 Project’s communications by transforming participant stories, program updates, and organizational accomplishments into engaging communications across digital, print, and donor stewardship channels.
F5 Project uses a collaborative communications process in which staff and Regional Directors regularly submit stories, photos, and program updates through established internal systems. The Communications & Engagement Coordinator is responsible for refining, organizing, scheduling, and distributing this content – not independently sourcing it – ensuring a consistent organizational voice that reflects F5 Project’s mission and impact.
While this position begins as part-time (approximately 20-25 hours/week), it is designed to grow alongside the organization and has the potential to expand into a full-time role as responsibilities and organizational needs evolve in the next 6-9 months. Success in this role comes from consistency rather than volume. The Communications & Engagement Coordinator ensures F5 Project’s stories are shared regularly, professionally, and in a way that strengthens relationships with participants, donors, partners, and the community.
Core Responsibilities:
Communications & Storytelling (60%)
· Coordinate F5 Project’s communications calendar across organizational communications channels.
· Manage F5 Project's two primary social media platforms by scheduling and publishing content that reflects organizational priorities and brand standards.
· Transform participant stories, program updates, photos, and videos submitted through F5 Project's internal storytelling process into engaging communications.
· Maintain and update F5 Project's website with current information, resources, and organizational news, typically through one to two updates each month.
· Write and distribute newsletters, blogs, email communications, and other organizational updates.
· Maintain consistency in F5 Project's messaging, branding, and voice across all communication channels.
· Assist in developing printed and digital communication materials, including brochures, impact reports, and promotional materials. Most organizational collateral is reviewed and refreshed annually.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship (25%)
· Coordinate donor stewardship communications in partnership with leadership, the Grants & Revenue Coordinator, and Fargo-based staff.
· Prepare thank-you communications, donor impact stories, stewardship pieces, and recurring donor communications.
· Support communication efforts related to Giving Hearts Day and other organizational fundraising initiatives.
· Assist in maintaining donor communication records and stewardship activities within donor management systems.
· Help ensure donors receive meaningful, mission-driven communications that demonstrate the impact of their generosity.
Organizational Collaboration (15%)
· Work collaboratively with Regional Directors, Operations, leadership, and staff to receive participant stories and organizational updates through established internal communication processes.
· Coordinate communication requests and priorities across departments to maintain a consistent organizational message.
· Support event promotion before and after organizational events.
· Assist leadership with communication materials, presentations, and special projects as needed.
· Contribute to a collaborative communications culture that empowers staff across the organization to share stories and celebrate impact.
Required Qualifications:
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tell authentic, mission-driven stories.
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across departments and with community partners.
· Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
· Self-motivated, curious, and comfortable working independently while collaborating across teams.
· Passion for F5 Project's mission and a commitment to communicating with dignity, empathy, and professionalism.
· Comfortable learning and using technology platforms such as WordPress, DonorDock, Canva, email marketing platforms, Microsoft 365, and AI-assisted content creation.
