FABRICATION SHOP FOREMAN
Job Summary
The Fabrication Shop Foreman supervises daily shop operations for a team of 15-20 fabrication employees, ensuring all work is completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. This hands-on leadership role requires a strong emphasis on employee safety, quality control, and productivity while managing scheduling, coordination, and jobs on the floor.
Qualifications
Experience Required:
- 10+ years in shop fabrication
- Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Have knowledge in material handling techniques utilizing forklifts and overhead cranes
Essential Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job specifications
- Knowledge of welding processes (GTAW, FCAW, SMAW, GMAW)
- Proficiency in pipe fitting, threading, machining, welding (stick, MIG, TIG), plasma cutting, and sheet metal work
- Experience with setup of hydraulic shear, iron worker, pipe, angle and plate rollers, CNC plasma table, and plate press brake
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Time management and ability to manage stress effectively
- Detail-oriented with strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Utilizing correct machinery for the process
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Quality:
- Enforce all company safety rules, OSHA requirements, and quality standards
- Conduct weekly safety meetings, inspections, and maintain an organized work environment
- Inspect finished work and approve jobs prior to shipment or installation
- Ensure proper PPE use, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe equipment operation
Daily Operations:
- Establishing work assignments and hold points for inspection
- Plan and assign daily work based on production schedules and priorities
- Create written work assignments and post in fabrication office daily
- Coordinate with Project Managers on scheduling, materials, and timelines
- Monitor production workflow to optimize efficiency and meet deadlines
- Track daily labor progress, job hours, materials used, and equipment needs
- Maintain accurate timesheets and submit to accounting weekly
Team Leadership:
- Must arrive daily (30) minutes before work time to address situations before employees start, and must stay over (15-30) minutes to walk the ongoing jobs and establish a game plan for the next day
- Train, mentor, and evaluate shop employees
- Handle employee conflicts and participate in performance reviews
- Interview and conduct weld test for new shop labor applicants
- Delegate work effectively and ensure accountability
Technical Execution:
- Give directions on layout and cutting of raw materials
- Assist with hands-on fabrication, welding, and machining as needed
- Troubleshoot fabrication issues and address production problems promptly
- Coordinate with construction division, project management team, and customers as needed
- Basic knowledge in the setup and maintenance of shop equipment

Pay: $60,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
