Eastern Carolina Vocational Center Inc. has an opening for a Full-time Machine Tender – Framing in the Framing Department.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Machine Tender (Framing) to join our framing department. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and tending framing production machinery used to cut, assemble, and complete wood frame components. The Machine Tender - Framing monitors equipment performance, inspects materials for quality, maintains production records, and helps ensure safe, efficient production flow.
Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities are:
- Lift and move wood and frame components onto machines or workstations with assistance as needed
- Examine wood materials to identify imperfections and determine the best cuts and assembly methods
- Operate saws, V-Nailer machines, and other framing equipment to cut, trim, join, or assemble frame components to specification
- Inspect wood and completed frames for defects, imperfections, and quality issues
- Remove or separate rejected materials and finished products that do not meet quality standards
- Position and align frame components using one or both hands during cutting and assembly processes
- Fit and attach frame parts together using nails, clamps, or V-Nailer equipment to form completed units
- Monitor machines during operation and stop equipment when malfunctions occur
- Clear jams and report equipment issues or malfunctions to the supervisor
- Perform routine daily maintenance including cleaning saws, machines, and removing debris before breaks and at the end of shifts
- Maintain production records including quantities produced, frame counts, dimensions, and scrap logs
- Count completed frames, tag carts appropriately, and move completed products to staging areas
- Weigh and record scrap for each frame style
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and/or move objects ranging up to 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 20-25 lbs. frequently, and 10-20 lbs. constantly
- Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift
- Ability to reach, handle, finger, push, and pull materials
- Occasional stooping and crouching
- Good visual acuity including depth perception and color discrimination
- Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a production environment
Work Environment
- Work around moving machinery and production equipment
- Exposure to noise, wood dust, and manufacturing environments
- Fast-paced production setting requires attention to safety and quality
Education and Experience:
- No specific education required.
- Minimum of 3 months working in an industrial setting is preferred
