American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level III NICU position requiring 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in NICU specialty and a CA RN license.

Work in a Level III NICU averaging 190 births per month within an acute care hospital
-
Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM
-
Every other weekend required, with potential for additional weekends to meet unit needs
-
No floating between units required
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Patient ratio of 1:2-3
-
Uses Epic charting system
-
Cares for neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
-
Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 week period
-
Active CA RN license required in hand at time of submission
-
Required certifications: BLS and NRP (Advanced NRP preferred, may allow candidates willing to obtain advanced certification before start)

PALS certification required
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with at least 1 year in NICU specialty
-
Candidates with less than 2 years overall RN experience but with Level IV NICU experience may be considered
-
Community hospital experience required
-
Epic EMR experience required
-
Prior travel nursing experience required, though candidates with 2+ years of NICU experience without travel experience may be considered
-
Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and neonatal medication administration
-
Experience with respiratory support including CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ventilator management, and oxygen delivery systems required
-
Knowledge of APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and neonatal abstinence syndrome required
-
Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required for consideration
-
Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including high-risk delivery attendance, developmental care, and patient/family education
-
Perform specialized procedures such as lumbar puncture assistance, phlebotomy, and management of NEC and gastroschisis/omphalocele cases
-
Support respiratory care including management of oscillators, nitric oxide therapy, and therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket)
-
Navy blue scrubs required for RNs; scrubs provided for L&D/OR staff

Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower bill rate

Travelers must reside outside a 50 mile radius to qualify for standard travel rate

May be required to float between sister facilities within the same health system

Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)

All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for approval consideration

Former permanent employees of the health system may return as travelers after a 3 month waiting period, provided they reside outside a 50 mile radius of the facility
