Position Summary
We're seeking an Apprentice EV/Hybrid & ICE Powertrain Technician to join our service department. This entry-level to early-career role is ideal for someone with basic mechanical or electrical aptitude, or technical school training, who wants to build a career servicing both electrified and gas-powered vehicles. You'll work alongside senior technicians to diagnose, maintain, and repair electric, hybrid, and internal combustion engine powertrains.
What You'll Do
- Assist certified technicians with diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of EV, hybrid, and ICE powertrains
- Learn high-voltage safety procedures and protocols for working on electric and hybrid vehicle systems
- Learn to diagnose and service battery packs, electric motors, inverters, and charging systems
- Assist with traditional engine, transmission, and drivetrain diagnostics and repair
- Use factory scan tools and diagnostic equipment under supervision
- Assist with module programming, calibration, and software updates
- Inspect vehicles and report findings to senior technicians and service advisors
- Keep the work bay clean, organized, and safety-compliant
- Follow all dealership and manufacturer safety and quality standards, including high-voltage safety protocols
- Complete manufacturer-provided training and certifications as required, including EV/hybrid certification tracks
- Maintain accurate repair records and documentation
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of (or current enrollment in) an automotive technology program preferred, but not required
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Interest in electric vehicle, hybrid, and powertrain technology
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced technicians
- Comfort with learning and following high-voltage safety procedures
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a shop environment (standing, bending, lifting)
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a team-first attitude
- Prior electrical, automotive, EV/hybrid, or military technical experience is a plus
