Position Title: Ag Utility/Maintenance
Location: Greeley, CO
The Agricultural Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and fabrication of Sugar Beet Screening Equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. This position performs preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and power transmission systems while maintaining a strong commitment to workplace safety and equipment reliability. The AG Mechanic works independently and as part of a maintenance team, utilizing technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to minimize downtime and maximize equipment performance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on screening equipment, industrial systems and agriculture equipment.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic systems, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, chains, belts, bearings, and other power transmission components.
- Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and machine shopwork to repair or modify equipment and components.
- Safely operate heavy equipment including loaders, skid steers, and other agricultural machinery.
- Plan and prioritize maintenance tasks with minimal supervision while coordinating repairs with operations and maintenance personnel.
- Verify parts availability and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, measuring devices, and safety documentation to complete repairs accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while complying with OSHA, DOT, company policies, and all applicable safety regulations.
- Respond to equipment failures quickly to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions, and be available for overtime, weekends, holidays, and travel as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Welding certificate or relevant welding experience
- Class A CDL and current DOT Medical Card, or the ability to obtain them within the required timeframe.
- Must successfully pass required mechanical aptitude, basic skills, and welding assessments as applicable.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of screening, conveying, industrial maintenance, mobile equipment, and agricultural machinery.
- Experience with preventative maintenance, welding, fabrication, electrical systems (up to 480V), hydraulic systems, and power transmission equipment preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures using sound diagnostic techniques.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and maintenance equipment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to work independently and within a team.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physically demanding work, including climbing ladders and stairs.
