Responsible for the skilled repair and maintenance of mechanical and electro-mechanical components and equipment in water and wastewater treatment plants and pump stations. This is journey-level work in the maintenance, repair, and operation of water and wastewater treatment plants and related mechanical equipment. Work of this class primarily involves responsibility for equipment and machinery maintenance and repair, but duties may also include some plant operation. Most repair work/preventive maintenance is performed from daily inspections or from reports from the computer maintenance management system and/or from plant operators or immediate supervisors. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Shop and Plant Maintenance Supervisor or Utility Plant Mechanic II and is reviewed primarily through the efficient operation of equipment and machinery.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:

Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of one (1) year of experience in utilities plant equipment repair, or industrial, mechanical, and electrical repair work.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
The selected candidate for this position:

May be required to obtain a Florida Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 12 months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:

Two (2) years of experience working in an industrial environment with water and/or wastewater treatment,

Valid FL Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) License in Water or Wastewater Treatment,
-
Experience working around moving machinery,
-
Knowledge of electrical repair and tools/equipment and the process of troubleshooting techniques in the utility plant/electrical maintenance field, and
-
Valid Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement.
