Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a motivated Physician Assistant to join our growing Sports Orthopedic Surgery team supporting Dr. Ali Ashaf. This position provides a unique opportunity to care for athletes and active patients across the full continuum of orthopedic sports medicine, including clinic, surgery, hospital rounding, and postoperative care.
The ideal candidate is passionate about sports medicine, enjoys working in a fast-paced surgical environment, and is committed to delivering exceptional patient-centered care. New graduates with a strong interest in orthopedic sports medicine or candidates who have completed a surgical fellowship are encouraged to apply.

Primary practice location: Dallas Main Campus

One clinic day each week in Rowlett

Occasional coverage in Rockwall

First assist in the operating room approximately two days per week

Outpatient sports medicine clinic

Post-operative hospital rounding

Shared office call responsibilities

Approximately three weekend call rotations per year

Surgery start time: 7:00 AM
-
Clinic hours generally begin at 8:00 AM, with the last scheduled patient at 4:00 PM

Opportunity to work alongside an experienced orthopedic sports surgeon while developing advanced surgical skills
-
Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, medical histories, and physical examinations for orthopedic sports medicine patients.
-
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions under established protocols.
-
Develop evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising orthopedic surgeon.
-
Serve as a first assist during orthopedic sports medicine surgical procedures approximately two days each week.
-
Evaluate patients before surgery and provide comprehensive postoperative follow-up care.
-
Round on hospitalized orthopedic surgery patients and coordinate discharge planning.
-
Interpret imaging studies, laboratory results, and diagnostic testing related to orthopedic conditions.
-
Perform procedures within the Physician Assistant scope of practice.

Educate patients regarding injuries, surgical procedures, rehabilitation, medications, and recovery expectations.

Collaborate closely with physicians, athletic patients, rehabilitation specialists, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary care teams.

Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in the electronic medical record.

Participate in shared office and limited weekend call coverage.

Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program

Current Texas Physician Assistant license

Current NCCPA certification
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire

Strong interest in Sports Orthopedic Surgery

Previous orthopedic or surgical clinical experience

Surgical first assist experience preferred

Completion of an orthopedic or surgical fellowship is highly desirable
