Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our Spay/Neuter team. This position is a full time position who will work with a Veterinary Technician in assisting our Veterinarian to perform Spay and Neuter surgeries in the low-cost clinic, as well as administer basic vaccines and testing. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for shelter medicine and animal welfare, providing support to veterinarians and ensuring the comfort of our patients. This role requires a blend of technical skills and interpersonal abilities to thrive in a fast-paced veterinary environment. Candidate must have the ability to lift 50 lbs on a daily basis.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the safety and comfort of animals.
- Perform routine tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and preparing animals for surgery.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including surgical areas and animal housing facilities.
- Handle animals with care during examinations and treatments, demonstrating proper animal handling techniques.
- Schedule appointments and manage client communications.
- Conduct blood draws for testing and knowledge of vaccine administration.
- Educate pet owners on post-treatment care.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills:
- Knowledge of animal anatomy and veterinary terminology to facilitate effective communication within the team.
- Proficiency in animal handling techniques to ensure safe interactions with various species.
- Proficiency in pre-surgery prep, monitoring animals under anesthesia, and post-surgery procedures.
- Familiarity with basic laboratory procedures relevant to veterinary practice is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in veterinary surgical environments is preferred

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
