Position Overview:The Food Production Technician reports to the Animal Services Manager. This team member supports the food storage, live food production and processing, and donated food sorting tasks that support the animals at Wildlife Images. Although this person does not participate in normal keeper duties, they are likely to help with diet preparation and as a supportive role to the keeper staff at the park.
The employee works directly with all other Wildlife images staffto perform daily operations throughout the facility in a thorough, safe, and mission-driven manner.
General Role and Responsibilities:
- Follow proper safety and sanitary protocols
- Ensure standards are maintained in order to comply with permits, regulations, and standards established by Wildlife Images, associated governing agencies and professional organizations, including quality of life standards.
- Coordinate with other staff members to perform daily duties and special projects
Primary Duties:
- Help maintain live rodent colonies/mealworms/prey birds to support both ambassador and rehabilitation food supplies. This involves daily husbandry, deep cleaning, breeding, and humane euthanasia of feeder animals.
- Organize and stock food supply from the animal services team when/if needed.
- Help organize and store all donations
- Off-site donation pick-ups in the community
- Butcher whole carcass deer/donated quartered animals for animal food
- Ensure that compost, trash and food scraps are properly disposed of, work areas and supplies/tools are kept clean and organized.
- Work with Animal Services staff to ensure continuity of care with all animals and any additional duties that need to be fulfilled.
- Adhere to Wildlife Images standards of care, focusing on the humane treatment of all animals, including feeder animals.
Qualifications:
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends and holidays.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds)
- Computer skills in data entry- Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
Pay: $15.55 - $18.00 per hour
