Job Description: Assistant Dispensary Manager
The Assistant Dispensary Manager is a key member of the leadership team responsible for supporting the daily operations of the dispensary while fostering a positive, accountable, and high-performing work environment. This position partners closely with the General Manager to ensure operational excellence, exceptional customer service, regulatory compliance, and team development.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can confidently make decisions, coach employees, identify issues before they become problems, and help create solutions that support both the team and the business. This role is expected to reduce the day-to-day operational burden on the General Manager by taking ownership of assigned responsibilities and leading by example.
Essential ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and coach dispensary employees while maintaining a positive and respectful workplace culture.
- Hold team members accountable to company policies, attendance expectations, customer service standards, and performance goals.
- Address employee performance concerns promptly through coaching, documentation, and partnership with the General Manager and Human Resources.
- Foster teamwork, professionalism, and open communication throughout the dispensary.
- Lead by example through reliability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
Operations
- Assist with the day-to-day management of dispensary operations.
- Ensure opening, closing, and daily operational procedures are completed accurately.
- Monitor workflow and staffing throughout the day to maximize efficiency and customer experience.
- Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy and compliance with all state regulations and company policies.
- Help identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
Scheduling & Staffing
- Assist in creating and managing employee schedules based on business needs while maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
- Coordinate shift coverage, approve schedule changes when appropriate, and respond to unexpected staffing issues.
- Monitor attendance and address recurring attendance concerns in a timely and consistent manner.
Strategic Partnership
- Work closely with the General Manager to prioritize daily, weekly, and long-term operational goals.
- Anticipate challenges and proactively bring potential concerns, risks, or opportunities to leadership.
- Exercise sound judgment by recognizing when situations can be handled independently and when they should be escalated.
- Assist in implementing new initiatives, policies, and operational improvements.
- Take ownership of projects and follow them through to completion.
Customer Experience
- Ensure every customer receives exceptional service.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Coach employees on customer engagement, product knowledge, and service standards.
Compliance
- Maintain strict compliance with all Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board regulations and company policies.
- Ensure proper documentation and adherence to security, inventory, and operational procedures.
- Immediately report any compliance concerns or operational risks to management.
Qualifications
- Previous leadership or management experience in retail, hospitality, cannabis, or another fast-paced customer service environment.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coach employees while maintaining accountability.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience creating employee schedules and managing staffing needs.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and dispensary point-of-sale systems is preferred.
