Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Chef/Assistant Food Service Director, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences within a school environment. This energetic position combines culinary expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring students receive nutritious, appealing meals tailored to their health needs. You will oversee food preparation, manage dietary operations, and support dietary meal plans, all while fostering a positive and collaborative kitchen atmosphere. Your passion for nutrition and management will help create a warm, welcoming dining experience that enhances the school foodservice environment.
Duties
- Lead the planning and preparation of nutritious, appealing meals in accordance with USDA dietary guidelines and individual care plans
- Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food safety, hygiene, and quality control are maintained at all times
- Assist in managing the dietary department’s daily operations, including inventory management and budgeting to optimize resources
- Collaborate with school nurse teams to conduct student assessments related to nutrition needs and modify meals accordingly.
- Train staff on best practices for food service, safety and protocols.
- Plan, order and execute catered events with our specialized staff.
Experience
- Proven supervisory experience in a culinary or food service setting within a K12 environment.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition principles, and meal planning.
- Familiarity with managing budgets within a dietary department to ensure cost-effective meal service delivery
- Leadership skills demonstrated through team supervision, staff training, and fostering a collaborative work environment
- Knowledge of coaching strategies.
- Experience in all types of catered events, from start to finish.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
