WORKING FOREMAN / CONSTRUCTION CREW LEADER
TXP Construction Group
TXP Construction Group is looking for an experienced, hands-on Working Foreman / Construction Crew Leader to help us build and lead our growing in-house construction crew.
This is not a position for someone who only wants to supervise from the truck.
We are looking for a highly capable construction hand who can lead from the front—someone who can take a crew, equipment, and scope of work and turn it into a productive day without needing constant supervision.
Our company performs a wide variety of construction work, including dirt and site work, underground utilities and water lines, metal buildings and structural steel, welding and fabrication, concrete-related work, equipment operation, repairs, and general construction.
We need someone versatile enough to handle whatever the job requires.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
As Working Foreman, you will take direction from our Superintendent and own the daily execution of the work in the field.
You will be expected to:
- Lead and organize a construction crew
- Plan daily work and assign manpower
- Keep the crew productive throughout the day
- Operate excavators, skid steers, dozers, telehandlers, and other equipment
- Perform and oversee welding and fabrication
- Perform dirt, utility, steel-building, and general construction work
- Troubleshoot field and equipment problems
- Maintain quality and workmanship standards
- Maintain a safe and organized jobsite
- Care for company equipment and tools
- Train and develop less-experienced employees
- Identify problems early and bring solutions—not just problems—to the Superintendent
- Work alongside the crew whenever needed
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for someone with real field experience and real leadership ability.
The right person:
- Has experience leading construction crews
- Is highly capable with heavy equipment
- Has broad construction knowledge
- Is mechanically inclined and a problem solver
- Can read a tape, perform layout, and understand plans
- Understands quality workmanship
- Can teach younger and less-experienced employees
- Holds people accountable without destroying morale
- Takes ownership when something goes wrong
- Doesn't need someone constantly telling him what to do next
- Is willing to jump in and work alongside the crew
- Takes pride in his work, equipment, and jobsite
- Wants responsibility and an opportunity to grow
Experience with excavation, dirt work, underground utilities, water lines, structural steel, metal buildings, welding/fabrication, and concrete is highly valuable.
You do not have to be an expert in every trade.
You do need to be the type of person who can figure things out, learn quickly, and lead a crew through work that changes from project to project.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of construction/field experience preferred
- Previous Foreman, Lead Man, or Crew Leader experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated heavy-equipment operating experience
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to perform physical construction work
- Willingness to work outdoors and travel to company jobsites as required
- Strong safety awareness
- Dependable attendance and work history
THIS IS A HANDS-ON LEADERSHIP POSITION
Our Foreman is expected to be one of the most capable people on the job.
One day you may be running an excavator. The next you may be setting steel, welding, installing water line, troubleshooting equipment, laying out a job, or teaching a new employee.
No job is beneath the Foreman.
If the crew needs help, you help.
If someone needs to be taught, you teach.
If something goes wrong, you take ownership and help solve it.
THE OPPORTUNITY
TXP Construction Group is actively expanding our internal construction capabilities and bringing more work in-house.
We're not simply filling an empty seat.
We're looking for someone who wants the opportunity to help build a crew, develop people, establish standards, take on responsibility, and grow with the company.
For the right person, this can become much more than another construction job.
OUR HIRING PROCESS
Candidates selected to move forward should expect:
- Initial phone interview
- In-person interview
- Short construction and leadership scenario assessment
- Hands-on equipment and construction skills evaluation
We don't expect anyone to know everything.
We do expect applicants to be honest about what they know and what they don't.
APPLY
If you're an experienced construction professional who can lead people, operate equipment, solve problems, and get work done, we'd like to talk to you.
Apply with your work history and a brief description of the crews you've led, equipment you've operated, and types of construction you've personally performed.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
