As a Middle School ELL Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality, differentiated instruction to students in grades 5-8 from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Your primary mission is to facilitate English language acquisition in the domains of speaking, listening, reading, and writing while ensuring students meet rigorous state academic standards. You will utilize data from assessments, such as ELPA21, to monitor student progress. You will collaborate closely with content-area teachers to implement effective accommodations and co-teaching strategies.
Beyond the classroom, you will serve as a vital advocate for English Learners and their families, fostering strong home-school partnerships and participating in building-level Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to enhance student outcomes. Candidates must hold a valid Iowa Teaching License with an English as a Second Language (ESL) K-12 endorsement and demonstrate a commitment to meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards.
