What to Expect
As Tesla’s Material Manager for the greenfield build of an ambitious manufacturing program in the Greater Houston area, you will own onsite materials leadership from receipt through controlled release to construction and tool install. You will build and lead the receiving, warehouse, logistics coordination, and material control team that keeps the site supplied with accuracy and urgency. This is a high-accountability role for a proven materials leader who treats every delivery, put-away, and issue as schedule-critical, and who refuses to let material flow become the reason manufacturing ramp slips. If you can run a mega-project materials organization with precision, this role was built for you.
What You'll Do-
Own onsite materials management for a large facility build, including receiving, warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, laydown coordination, and controlled material release to the field
-
Lead and develop the materials organization: Warehouse/Receiving, Logistics coordination, and material control resources, setting clear priorities and holding the team to uncompromising standards of accuracy, safety, and turnaround
-
Establish and run disciplined receiving and issue processes so inbound equipment and commodities are verified, staged, protected, and released against construction and tool-install need-by dates
-
Coordinate daily with Construction Managers, Superintendents, Procurement, Preservation, Quality, and Manufacturing to align material readiness with look-ahead workfronts and critical path milestones
-
Drive material status visibility for program leadership, including shortages, holds, damaged freight, long-lead arrivals, and constraints that threaten schedule
-
Partner with Logistics and carriers/vendors to manage inbound delivery flow, site congestion, oversized shipments, and internal transfers without disrupting field production
-
Enforce materials standards for inventory integrity, quarantine/NCR handling, preservation handoff, housekeeping, and site safety across warehouse and laydown operations
What You'll Bring-
5+ years of materials, warehouse, or logistics management experience on major capital construction projects
-
Proven experience leading onsite receiving and materials coordination teams on large, fast-paced construction or factory-build programs
-
Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume inbound material flow, inventory accuracy, and controlled issue to multi-discipline construction teams
-
Strong working knowledge of receiving documentation, PO matching, inventory systems, laydown management, and shortage/constraint escalation
-
Exceptional organizer and communicator who can align Procurement, Construction, and site materials teams around hard dates and clear priorities
-
Detail-driven leader with extreme ownership: you keep material flowing, records clean, and the field never waiting
