POSITION TYPE: Temporary, up to 4-month contract
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $19.85 per hour FLSA Exempt

Description of Duties:
The Summer Student Support Specialist is responsible for supporting student success and social-emotional wellbeing in NCSSM Summer Programs. Reports to Assistant Manager for Summer and Extended Programs
- Read parent and student comment forms (approximately 700 families) for Accelerator, Step up to STEM, and other programs if needed.
- These forms include self-reported medical information and preferences that we use to support the students in having a successful experience with us.
- Ensure that families and students have completed their forms and that we have the necessary information at least two weeks prior to the beginning of each program.
- Identify specific concerns and follow up with families and students as needed before, during and after the program.
- Develop individualized Accommodation Plans when needed and communicate that to the program coordinators, counselors and teachers.
- Send alerts to teachers and summer student life staff as needed to know.
- Keep meticulous records of communication with families and any incidents.
- Meet with students and staff members as needed, possibly keeping office hours and being available at regular times each week. Develop positive relationships with students.
- Be available to assist with concerns as they occur in the summer, or connect students to NCSSM counseling department during the summer programs.
- Possibly lead weekly evening or afternoon enrichment programs for students.
Job requirements:
- Work can begin as early as April 1 and ends July 26, 2024.
- Reviewing forms and contacting families before the summer can be completed remotely.
- Flexible schedule, approximately 10-20 hours per week , with some evening and weekend work as well as being available on call. Must have the ability to work on campus 2-3 days a week.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and MSW or MA in counseling
- Experience and enthusiasm for working with youth
- Excellent communication skills
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Familiarity with CampMinder or similar software
- Experience working as a school counselor or social worker
